Understanding how we evaluate and rank games on GameAtlasCompass
At GameAtlasCompass, we believe that a good rating system should be transparent, fair, and useful. Our goal is not to declare a single "best" game, but to help you understand which titles might suit your preferences, playstyle, and expectations. We evaluate games based on a balanced set of criteria, combining objective data with community insights.
Below you will find the four pillars of our rating methodology. Each pillar contributes to the overall score, and we weight them equally to ensure a holistic assessment.
Gameplay & mechanics
We assess core gameplay loops, controls, responsiveness, and overall feel. A game that is intuitive, engaging, and polished scores higher in this category.
Visuals & audio
Graphics quality, art direction, sound design, and music contribute to immersion. We consider both technical execution and artistic coherence.
Content & replayability
We evaluate the amount of content available, variety of modes, progression systems, and long-term engagement potential. Games that offer lasting value rank higher.
Community & support
Active player base, developer responsiveness, update frequency, and community feedback are all taken into account. A healthy ecosystem is key to a great game.
How we collect data
Our ratings are not based on a single playthrough or personal opinion. We gather information from multiple sources including official game descriptions, patch notes, community forums, and aggregated user reviews. We also monitor player sentiment across platforms to detect trends and identify potential issues.
We do not accept payment or incentives to adjust ratings. Our reviews are independent and impartial. If we feature a game through an affiliate link, it does not influence its score in any way.
What the score means
We use a 0–10 scale, with 10 being exceptional. A score of 7.0 or above indicates a solid game with few drawbacks. Scores between 5.0 and 6.9 suggest average or niche appeal. Anything below 5.0 typically has significant flaws that may impact the overall experience. We also provide a brief summary alongside each score to give you context.
Remember that ratings are subjective to some degree. We encourage you to read the full overview and make your own judgement. Our goal is to inform, not to dictate.
